I've been trying to figure out a possible setup for lowering my FB. potentially more than an 1". more of a show stance but at the same practical. i have been looking at the street coilovers, camber plate kit, rear coilover kit. any suggestions? i plan on running 15"x8" rims with an effective offset of +10mm, so yes there will have to be some fender pulling and rolling. thanks in advance

also how much height adjustment does the coilover kit give?

I would suggest the race coil overs for the front. They offer more adjust-ability and better choices for spring rates. You could do the 1" with the street kit and 200# springs. You would just be limited to the 1" and to the 200# rate.

Is this a street only car or will it see a number of autoX?

i did race autox with it. but found the stock suspension to soft and i found another car for autox in the meantime. after this upgrade the suspension should be night and day better for autox so i will most likely race it again. however i was also doing this suspension conversion for show purposes so i would like the ride height to be quite adjustable and low.

the ride quality is not a huge issue as this is for show. i am planning on running my stock shocks and struts as well. would tokico HP's be a reasonable upgrade? or should i stay with stock unitl i can get illumina's? i'm still in university so saving a few bucks is in mind.
thanks

Go with the Illuminas if you can. That adjustability just can't be beat for fine tuning the handling, or for changing from "racing stiff" to "cadillac comfy". I run spring rates of 275f/150r and love the car for both daily driving and weekend racing. If you can only afford to put Illuminas on one end of the car, I would put them on the rear since they seem to make the biggest difference between settings in that position, and the biggest difference in handling when fine tuning over/understeer.

But if you don't plan on daily driving, taking long trips, etc. then you could go with the Blues and do just fine. You'll lose the fine tuning ability that the adjustable shocks give you, but a lot of time its easier (and sometimes even better) to adjust the driver rather than the suspension. smile.gif

Here's a writeup I'm working on concerning autocrossing an RX7 that you might find interesting.

Best of luck, and feel free to continue hitting me up with any questions you may have....

Very nice write-up Kentetsu.

I would recommend against the Blues. I find that while they are a decent middle ground damper, they are way to stiff on rough roads and not nearly stiff enough around the cones. As Kentetsu said, at the very least get them in the rear so you can dial in the ride you need. I can't wait to get mine.
