By the time I found this website, I had new bushings and new Illumina shocks installed. The bushings were installed for the front sway bar and the watts suspension in the rear. The bushings were Energy Suspension bushings. I did read that I should have had rubber bushings installed in the watts. Am I wrong on this. If so what now?
Also, now that I am here, what else do I need to do to make this car the best it can be for the road? It's an 1984 GSL-SE with 46K miles. Everything is stock except of course the new shocks and bushings.
Any help is appreciated.
I see you were reading up on the "respeed" energy suspension kit. The mention of not including the front sway bar bushings is only that aftermarket bars are larger diameter and therefore ENE parts will nit fit. We suggest only adding the ENE bushings on the
lower rear arms and leaving the stock bushings in the
uppers. This allows the lowers to locate the rear end front to back for effectively yet lets the upper give a bit to help reduce the bind. We also recommend doing half the watts kit for the same reason, a bit more stiffer locating but with a small amount of give as well.
To me the next mod should be a front sway bar. This will give you the best bang for your buck in handling, then move onto springs, preferably overs.
