Billy, i'm starting my brake conversion (T11 calipers and discs on a gen 1) and i need to change some of the hardware for the handbrake cable, i had to remove the large spring and arm that the cable sits in as i am replacing all this, my new set up doesnt have the spring and the arm the new braket sits on move in and out 5-8mm (on both calipers) is this normal?

thanks Mark

Looks correct to me from what I can tell. The spring we provided is to replace the torsion style spring used on the stock cable pulls.

Billy its more the play in the (up and down) in the lever can you sit it in the photo?
the spring wouldn't resolve this, maybe the pressure in the system does? but i dont want to pull everything apart to find out it doesn't!
thanks

I see, did the arms go all the way down on the shaft? if it did maybe the piston is not all the way in. That lever simply pushes the piston out. when out the lever will have play.

thanks Billy i've not been home for a few days but yes my thoughts were the same, going to pull one apart Sat, it may be that i have wound it in so far it has made the piston rod shorter? as they are in all the way with pads in ready for the car, will post my findings! lets hope it's that as it seems strange that both are doing it so i dont think its a faliure somewhere

as above i wound the piston out a little and put some pressure on it to push it back in and the lever is working fine so panic over!
thanks for your patients Billy

Mark,

That is exactly how they should look. They seat on the taper at the bottom of the hole rather than the face of the caliper.

You are good to go.
