does anyone have any info on what year the gsl grade started.?I have a guy who said i can buy his sa for $200 and he's got the rear rotors and lsd on his 79' but no motor (was a 12a) but i though it came at a later time so to me he doesn't know what year he has, he's yankin' my chain, or i learn something new today and have a great oppotunity for and upgrade to my suspension.. not sure what i can do upgrade exactly either

If I recall correctly, the LSD and rotors were available on the GS model of the 79 and 80. There was no GSL back then, didn't start till 81 I believe. But everything should be swapable. He could of even got a LSD and rotors from a later model and bolted it on. The way to test it is to jack up the read end and spin the one wheel and look at the other. If they both spin in the same direction you have LSD, if it spins the other direction then open diff.

If the read end is a stock one from 79 you can't use the stronger axles from Re-speed. Just a heads up on that one, besides that you can get lots of stuff from here.

I never heard about a 79-80 GS model with lsd/discs. Interesting...

I'd say the chances are somebody, at some point, swapped in a later rear end. This is a very popular mod (I did it myself).

oh ok.. i just haven't seen it yet and i wanted see if i even give it a try but that's a good point about it maybe already swapped thanks and since it was brough up the respeed upgrades, how strong is that is there a ballpark handle rating? i'm aiming for a consistant 250whp in the end (if i don't boost that is)

Sorry Im probably not helping alot but i didnt know that they had them earlier either. I have an 85 and did the same swap from a gsl but not sure what year... i got it for 200 bucks laying in the weeds and found out that the rear end was disc and LSD!! now i have that and the tranny from it in my car... until it blows haha. Im getting the big brake kit soon i hope with Moser axles! Good luck!
